The Fruits of our Labor

The “fruits,” held to both the conceptions of the whisky makers, as well as our own creations, have encouraged this whisky-inspired cocktail:

The Sour Scotsman  (From Auchentoshan.com)

This is a variation of the traditional Whisky Sour that’s been around since 1872. The Auchentoshan 12 Year helps to make this iteration lighter and slightly sweeter. Add a dash of egg white, to create a Boston Sour (Scottish Style.)

Ingredients
Juice of ½ lemon
1-½ teaspoons sugar
2 measures Auchentoshan 12 Year
12.5ml of egg white
Soda water to top up
Orange slice (garnish)

Instructions
Shake the ingredients with ice and strain into a small tumbler.
Add a good dash of soda water and decorate with a slice of orange.

It’s hard to imagine Auchentoshan, modestly appointed by Gaels to be situated in the “corner of the field” (but not the outskirts of the modern whisky world), constituting less than an outstanding whisky cocktail. Appreciated by connoisseurs for its smooth flavor and by those new to malt whisky for its lightness and accessibility, Auchentoshan single malt is one of only a few remaining Lowland malts. Even in this select company, the whisky is unique; while others distill only twice, Auchentoshan distillery continues the tradition of triple distillation to produce even greater refinement to its sweet and delicate, but deep character. Read more tips on Auchentoshan, as well its fellow stablemates--Glen Garioch and Bowmore--in the whisky dinner post-mortem. And yes, these jewels in the crown of Campari America (Suntory subdivision) will be found the WoW.
