Passionate about the micro-distilling explosion in the USA?
01-11-2013

Meet and talk to Chip Tate of Balcones Distillery, Texas, Waco, who is considered by many to be one of the most significant and unique small craft distillers. Outspoken, opinionated, slightly iconoclastic, this Master Distiller has one of the most interesting takes on American whiskey that you'll hear. A dedicated home brewer, Chip has a history of a serious learning of science of distilling, including an apprenticeship in Scotland, and building his distillery from scratch. Literary, even welding the copper stills. At the Expo, Chip will proudly present his multi-awarded  mucho-acclaimed whiskies: Baby Blue, the first Texan whisky and the only blue corn whisky made anywhere; the recent Brimstone, a smoky (and smoked)  whisky, and the brand new Rumble,  a Texas spirit made of fermented Mission Figs, Texas Wildflower Honey & Turbinado Sugar. Sounds like a lot of innovation went into the three bottlings, so accolades  are no wonder. Here is another one from WoW created especially for Chip: “to tradition with adventurous drive!”

Chip will be conducting a totally new to WoW program Masterclass “Whisky Aromas: where do they come from?” aiming to help you better understands spirits you love…sampling the spirit he put so much love to.
